Warehouse Blaze, House Fire In Marlboro Tax Firefighters In Heat Wave | Marlboro, NJ Patch

MARLBORO, NJ — Police and first responders had to battle two fires this past weekend in Marlboro, the first one at a warehouse and the second at a residence. There were no injuries in either fire.

With extremely high temperatures to work in all weekend, police and fire personnel fought blazes at these locations:

An alarm came in to police Saturday at 4:30 p.m. for Boundary Road, where a warehouse for the business Plasma Powders & Systems Inc. is located. While patrol officers were on the way to the scene, police received more information from Monmouth County Dispatch reporting the structure fire, Capt. Stephen J. Levy, public information officer, said in a news release.

When officers arrived, flames and heavy smoke could be seen from the exterior of the building. The warehouse was unoccupied at the time of the fire, police said.

According to its website, Plasma Powders & Systems Inc., in business for 40 years, produces thermal spray powders and wires, thermal spray handling and spray equipment, and parts for thermal spray equipment.

Boundary Road was closed between Vanderburg Road and Dutch Lane Road while multiple fire units worked to extinguish the flames, police said.

The fire was put out at approximately 9:30 p.m., when the roadway was reopened. There were no injuries reported at the scene, police said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Monmouth County Fire Marshal's Office. The warehouse was pronounced uninhabitable, police said.

Responding units included the Marlboro Township Police Department, Marlboro Township Detective Bureau, Marlboro Township Office of Emergency Management, Marlboro Fire Department, Robertsville Volunteer Fire Company, Morganville Fire Company, Marlboro Fire Prevention, Marlboro First Aid Squad, Morganville First Aid Squad, Monmouth County Fire Marshalls Office, Monmouth County Hazmat, New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, Gordons Corner Fire Department, East Freehold Fire Department, Adelphia Fire Department, Colts Neck Fire Department, Colts Neck Police Department, Freehold Borough Fire Department, Englishtown Fire Department, Holmdel Fire Department, Freehold Independent Fire Department, Southard (Howell) Fire Department, Union Beach Fire Department, Matawan Fire Department, and the Keyport and Atlantic Highlands First Aid Squad.

On Sunday, July 24, at about 5 p.m., police received a 911 call reporting a heavy smoke condition and residential fire at 3 Hillside Terrace, Levy said in the news release.

As the patrol officers arrived, two residents were standing outside of the house and told police that no one else remained inside. The home was fully engulfed by this time, police said.

Fire personnel arrived and extinguished the fire. The fire was reported to be out at approximately 5:30 p.m.

Harbor Road was closed between Route 79 and Tennent Road while firefighters battled the flames.

The Monmouth County Fire Marshal's Office is investigating. No injuries were reported at the scene and the house was left uninhabitable, police said.
